Hi to all

I am facing a problem with the corruption of the dhcp lease file causing
problems to many users.

We use the dhcp server to serve cable modems. We use CASA CMTS C3200 & C40G

We got this log from the dhcp server.

/Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd: /var/lib/dhcp3/dhcpd.leases line 113920:
expecting left brace.
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd:   uid "\
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd:        ^
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd: /var/lib/dhcp3/dhcpd.leases line 113920:
possibly corrupt lease file
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd:   uid "\377;-E\\\\5;
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd:                     ^
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd: Corrupt lease file - possible data loss!
Sep 18 04:17:15 dhcp1 dhcpd: Corrupt lease file - possible data loss!
Sep 18 04:17:17 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 class decls to leases file.
Sep 18 04:17:17 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 deleted host decls to leases file.
Sep 18 04:17:17 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 new dynamic host decls to leases file.
Sep 18 04:17:17 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote *8771* leases to leases file.
//

/2 hours before we had this log :
/Sep 18 02:43:35 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 class decls to leases file.//
//Sep 18 02:43:35 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 deleted host decls to leases file.//
//Sep 18 02:43:35 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote 0 new dynamic host decls to leases
file.//
//Sep 18 02:43:38 dhcp1 dhcpd: Wrote //*104799 *//leases to leases file./

Clearly when the lease file got corrupted it caused the lease to drop
from 104799 leases to *8771 *which created us a lot of problem with the
customers.

This problem happened again but in a different dhcp server and it had
the same nature of logs.
We are afraid that this may happen again !

Is this a bug of this version 3.1.1 and is it solved if so ?
If i have to upgrade are there any stable versions ?
I want to be assure that there are no problem with  option 82 ( relay
agent ) ?
I can't afford to risk on live implementation .

Many thanks

Endrit Hasaj
