I believe you will have to remove/clean-up your static records. We
are ddns on our WiFi and wired residence hall subnets but do have
static entries for administrative devices in these subnets. When
the static devices are added or removed I have to use nsupdate to
remove old and add the new.

Hello folks,
I'm trying to get a better understanding of how dynamic
updates work, especially as they apply to fixed-address
declarations. In my test system, it appears that if an
address is part of a dynamic pool, its associated DNS
records will be deleted when the IP is freed for use.

With hosts configured using the 'fixed-address' parameter,
however, associated DNS records do not appear to be deleted
when the host in question has its lease expired.

Is this correct? If so, if we expand a dynamic pool to include
some previously reserved addresses, do we then need to manually
clean up DNS to remove the old fixed-address A and TXT records?
