why libomapi/libdhcpctl libraries are not shared objects ?

Hi All,
I was wondering isc-dhcp does not compile libomapi/libdhcpctl/libdst
libraries as
shared objects (.so) instead of archives (.a).

Are there any configuration options that would allow me to build them as
.so ?

Appreciate any help/info on this.
