That's normal or on the low side for a history file for a server carrying
a fullish feed.  It shouldn't be large enough to give you a file too large
error; where are you getting that error from?  Do you have enough free
disk space for two complete copies of the history file?  You need that for
expire to run correctly; you may have to set expdir to another directory
with more free space.

FYI, if you're using CNFS, this is the only line in expire.ctl that
anything pays any attention to.  All of the remaining group-specific
expiration times are being ignored.
