GCC E-Government and Telecom Forum: Strategic Context

Various GCC e-government organizations and their various initiatives are
offered an excellent platform to share and learn on the best practices in
e-government implementation and business process reengineering and
management. The use of new technologies for government information
provision, service delivery and administration has the potential to transform
government. This transformation will improve the lives of all citizens.

The government has an important leadership role in enhancing the extent to
which businesses and the community takes full advantage of the opportunities
provided by the information economy. It is doing this by maximizing the
opportunities provided by technology to help transform government
activities. This transformation to e-government has a significant
‘demonstrator’ and ‘pull-through’ effect on
region&#821s information economy.

The Forum:

The forum will focus on latest developments &initiatives and emphasize on
where e-Government projects are heading to? And how a planned approach can
ensure their success? It highlights how other nations are preparing their
communities, business and managements with the use of the latest technology
that has been effectively put together by their e-government projects.

The three day forum offers sessions that emphasize on a well planned
approachtowards e-Government; They highlight e-initiatives by worldwide
governments that have improved the delivery of government services by
bringing together community and technology leaders with professionals who
runworldwide e-Government projects. The program is designed to provide a
unique platform for knowledge sharing and interaction enabling you with a
better perspective on E-governance and its future.

Goals of the forum:

    >>Raise awareness and spark engagement among policymakers of the
importance of tackling the major issues while pursuing e-government
activities.

    >>Convene and evaluate e-government achievements of the GCC with
interaction and knowledge exchange with experts and practitioners
todevelop

strategies to expand the relevance and accessibility of
e-government.

    >>Develop a set of guiding principles that can be used as a "call to
action" for

better e-government policies in the context of reinventing
government

processes and the need to ensure access to government information
and

         services for all.

    >>Publish a post-conference report to summarizing the activities the
forum
