prepare the 2.5.3 release
* Typo fixed in NEWS.
* Add the 2012 year to LICENSE.
* Add a contributor of a recent bug fix in CONTRIBUTORS. (Sorry for having
forgotten to commit the file!)
* Bump the version of the latest release in FAQ.
