Very large innfeed processes

I have 5 innfeed processes running. One of them is always getting very
large pretty quickly.
I looked in /proc/<pid>/mem of this process, and basically it's not
mmap()ed files that gives the impression that the process is getting
big, it's actual allocated memory.
Any ideas what could cause innfeed to grow so big? Some internal
qeueu that grows because some peers are slow / down?

First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
