ctlinnd cancel ... ?

Just tried to do:

athena:/usr/local/news> ctlinnd cancel '<37D81AFB.E4E7060C at ns.sympatico.ca>'
Ok

To kill a local posting, and it isn't removing it...even though it says
okay...

I don't think I'm doing it wrong, am I?  

using newest INN+buffindexed now...
