No overview info being generated

I can't seem to get the overview information generated and the news server
is definately taking news articles from the newsfeed, but no readers can
see the articles.

INN version:	2.2.2
Storeageapi:	true
Storeagemethod:	cnfs

sample of overview.ctl:

0:bionet.m*
1:bionet.p*
2:bionet.*
3:biz.*
4:boulder.*
5:b*
6:comp.a*
7:comp.b*


The system has been setup per the instructions in INSTALL for the cnfs
system. have I messed something?
