innd lockup

INN 2.2.1 on Solaris 2.6

I am currently experiencing a problem where innd locks up completely at
random times.  In this state not even a kill -9 will do it and I have to
reboot.  I remember reading about this problem in the archives, but
there did'nt seem to be any solution.  Has anyone found a cause for this
condition?  I have also noticed on a few occasions when this happened
that doing a 'ls -l' in /usr/local/news/db causes my session to lock up
in the same fashion.

Any help will be appreciated.
