Phantom articles

Hello,
I am experiencing a very strange (IMHO) behavior of innd. After a long
period of not operating, I ran expire, which removed all articles from
the spool directory (as expected). The trouble is that when I now start
innd, it starts feeding me "phantom" articles. It goes like:
inn: IHAVE <dhnm6ss1fgdt7446q635d4ira8ch0uucsf at 4ax.com>
my prog: 335 <cancel.4TF74.40581$43.56865 at dfw-read.news.verio.net>
inn: .
No headers, no article body, just a dot. And TONS of such articles..
I am really scared, it takes 100% of my feed (because my innd does not
accept articles from other sites yet), and if I actually post something,
it is delivered but among all this garbage (which makes it incredibly
slow, needless to say).
I have browsed through list archives and troubleshooting in the FAQ
but could not find anything that would resemble my situation.
The INN version I am using is 2.2.1. One detail (which I don't think is
related but anyway): my spool directory was moved to another file system,
and replaced with a symbolic link in the original location.
Any ideas on what the reason of all this could be, or where I could
seek help and enlightement?
Thanks in advance!
Take care -
JPL
