Note that if I rip all that stuff out, that means that inews also won't do
the bit of adding distributions based on the server distrib.pats, nor will
it do the mailing to moderated groups directly (instead, it will post and
let the server does that).  This has the side effect of not printing the
notification "article has been mailed to moderator" like inews currently
does.
