CR / LF "rejects"

Hi,

I'm seeing some funny things on my servers running 2.3.1 prereleases.
First I thought that I'm losing articles (because of the "437" in my
logs), but that's not the case, the articles are in spool. 

Examples:

Nov 28 16:00:10.388 ? feeder <900h9p$2h5$1 at news1.xs4all.nl>
437 article includes CR without LF(29)
Nov 28 16:00:10.388 + feeder <900h9p$2h5$1 at news1.xs4all.nl>

437 article includes CR without LF(75)

Why are these articles logged with "?" and "437" and accepted afterwards?

The code for this CR / LF thing is in innd/art.c. Why was it included?
Or is it just a warning / debugging issue?
