True, and looking through past released inn, they also do so.
I think there are two ways to fix this;

- innd fills with white spaces where token is written in
  history when cancelled
- expire examines each article exists

For cnfs which has selfexpiry functionality, the latter
is done.  And last patch I've committed this morning
makes it easier to do the latter.  But this is for 2.3.
