CNFS + FreeBSD + cnfsstat "read:file too large"

Good morning to all,
I have just setup INN 2.3.0 on FreeBSD 4.0 (Release) and am having a problem with cnfsstat complaining about "File too large". But this *only* seems to be a problem now that the cycbuffs have filled up.
Today if I try to do a 'cnfsstat -a' I get the following:
%cnfsstat -a
Class HEAVY for groups matching "*", article size min/max: 4000/1000000
read: File too large
The relevant section of my cycbuff.conf is:
cycbuff:HEAVY0:/export/cycbuffs/disk0/heavy:2752000
cycbuff:LIGHT0:/export/cycbuffs/disk0/light:1000000
(...)
metacycbuff:HEAVY:HEAVY0,HEAVY1,HEAVY2,HEAVY3,HEAVY6
metacycbuff:LIGHT:LIGHT0,LIGHT1,LIGHT2,LIGHT3,LIGHT6
Yesterday for example, when I did cnfsstat successfully I got:
%cnfsstat -a

Each of my disks holds two cycbuffs as follows:
-rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 2818048000 Sep 14 09:01 heavy
-rw-rw-r-- 1 news news 1024000000 Sep 14 09:01 light
Are these files too big? I wondered if there was an issue with cnfsstat *reading* my files.
Any help is much appreciated, I'm new to INN and after figuring out (some) of the steep learning curve, I'm getting to like it! :-)
Cheers,
Callum
