I spoke too soon

My feeds are not recognizing cross posts. Does anyone know why that might be
happening?

Thanks,

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out with this. I found that I
simply omitted the "*" to forward all newsgroups in my newsfeeds file entry
for downstream.exmpl.com.

I then ran into some problems updating the history on both servers after I
got the feeds working. I simply rebuilt the history, bounced them (a couple
of times) and they are now chugging along as mirrors.

I also used the pullnews script to pull all of the original news messages
down from "upstream," which ran into some problems (I had to run it a few
times, deleting the newsgroups that were causing it to choke from the
.pullnews file). All in all, creating the mirrors was relatively painless.
Not counting the newsfeeds file typo, the entire process only took me about
an hour.

Thanks again,
Emily Hall-Girard

Subject: innfeed not offering new posts

Hello,

Yes, I am still struggling with the innfeed configuration between my two
internal servers. At this point I have successfully connected using innfeed:

 upstream innfeed[13993]: downstream.exmpl.com:0 connected
upstream innfeed[13993]: downstream.exmpl.com remote MODE STREAM

but the upstream server is not offering new posts to the downstream server.
I can see the server accepting a new post from a user in the news.notice log

upstream innd: localhost:16 closed seconds 0 accepted 1 refused 0 rejected 0
duplicate 0 accepted size 801 duplicate size 0

but there is no record of it offering the new post to the down stream
servers. There is also no record of an article being offered in the down
stream server's log files nor any record of rejecting posts or connections
from the upstream server.

The newsfeed file entries are as follows:

innfeed!\
        :!*\
        :Tc,Wnm*:/usr/local/news/bin/startinnfeed

downstream.exmpl.com\
        :!junk,!control*/\
        :Tm:innfeed!

The innfeed.conf file entry is as follows:

downstream.exmpl.com {
        ip-name: downstream.exmpl.com
}

I thought that I had followed the documentations' instructions to the
letter, but evidentially I have overlooked something rather important. Any
insights would be welcome.

Thank you,
