Oh... I didn't know that.  That's really weird.  Okay, this whole bit of
unpacking compressed batches is even more baroque than I thought it was.

I'm changing it back to cunbatch.  Now I understand why there was a +g
option to force gunbatch instead of cunbatch.  Will fix.

It means that rnews potentially breaks entirely on systems that don't have
gzip installed, and the man page currently lies because _PATH_GZIP is
always either gzip or empty in current INN, never compress (I may have
broken that by not understanding how _PATH_GZIP was used).  Whee.  This
area badly needs some cleanup and I don't have time to do it right now,
but I will put sendbatch back to Jochen's original suggestion.
