Numerical argument out of domain

I'm replacing an existing news server, which had been running an old
version of inn, with a new one.  I've followed the INSTALL file and
believe I have everything setup correctly.  On startup, however, I
receive:

innd: SERVER cant dbzinit /usr/local/news/db/history   Numerical
argument out of domain

This error appears in news.crit and news.err.

Could anyone give me suggestions as to where I went wrong with my
configuration?
