slow ovdb?

Hi,
we are running INN-2.3.2 on a Linux-Box with Kernel 2.4.3.
Storage method is timecaf and ovmethod is ovdb.
If I select a newsgroup (tin) with lots of articles in it, it takes
a long time until I can read.
For a group with 2607 articles I must wait about 62 seconds. A group
with 28210 articles I have to wait 330s.
This seems very long to me.
Is this a ovdb problem?
Would it be significant faster with tradindex?
