NNTGET and ACTIVE File Woes

Hi all,

I have two related issues that I'd like to discuss.

First of all, I have a problem with nntpget that I am trying to solve.
I need to connect to a server and fetch all the new news on that
server. (Yes, I have permission for doing this). But the following
is the result of that command:

sh-2.05$ /usr/bin/nntpget -o -f nowactive newsgate.mot.com
Can't start list, Illegal seek

Now this command works as advertised on a peer server:

sh-2.05$ /usr/bin/nntpget -o -f nowactive newshost.mot.com
sh-2.05$

When I execute this from newshost, everything does indeed work properly.
So, what gives?

Also, I had inadvertently blown away my active file. I ran

       ctlinnd renumber ""

to rebuild an old copy of the active file with the latest information.
But what I want to do is to rebuild the entire active file. How to
do that?

Thanks

Divya Sundaram.
