I can imagine something that goes the opposite direction, though.  Walks 
the buffer and accumulates statistics, or something.  Would the framework 
be hard to write?  The actual analysis aspects could be added over time (a 
flag to list all of the Message-IDs, a flag to calculate average article 
size, a flag to cumulate some analysis by Newsgroups, etc).  Or maybe it 
would be better to write something to list the Message-IDs (or storage 
tokens, which is easier), and then let the analysis tool use the storage 
API?
