Hi,
I've noticed a lot (> 120 in the last 24 hours) zero byte long
innfeed-dropped files in my innfeed directory.
Checking the time stamps of the innfeed-dropped files against
the log file, it seems that innfeed is exiting each time a peer
is not reachable or otherwise "indisposed". Examples:
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innfeed[2448]: triton.net:0 cxnsleep non-responsive connection
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innd: innfeed! exit 0 elapsed 305 pid 2448
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innd: innfeed!:74:proc:2448 closed
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innd: innfeed! spawned innfeed!:47:proc:2707
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innd: innfeed! restarted
Oct 17 14:59:58 nautilus innfeed[2707]: ME starting innfeed 2.4.0 (20021016 prerelease) at Thu Oct 17 14:59:58 2002
[...]
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innfeed[25922]: triton.net:0 cxnsleep no permission to talk: 502 smallfeed.triton.net DIABLO is currently in read-only mode
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innd: innfeed! exit 0 elapsed 7 pid 25922
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innd: innfeed!:74:proc:25922 closed
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innd: innfeed! spawned innfeed!:101:proc:25923
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innd: innfeed! restarted
Oct 17 08:31:01 nautilus innfeed[25923]: ME starting innfeed 2.4.0 (20021016 prerelease) at Thu Oct 17 08:31:01 2002
Each exit / restart also gives a core dump in the spool/articles
directory:
[nautilus,news]:[~/spool/articles]$ file core
core: ELF 32-bit LSB core file of 'innfeed' (signal 11), Intel 80386, version 1
[nautilus,news]:[~/spool/articles]$ gdb /news/bin/innfeed core
GNU gdb 19991004
[...]
This GDB was configured as "i386-redhat-linux"...
Core was generated by `/news/bin/innfeed'.
Program terminated with signal 11, Segmentation fault.
