I'm somewhat stuck on the configuration of the 2.3.3.
I was able to configure -withperl -withopenssl, make,
make install, make cert. Though I copied the original
files to \opt\inn233, after the compilation the relevant
files appear to be in \usr\local\news with the user rights
set to news/news.
I had a look at ~news\etc\inn.conf : Since this is a
test installation on a LAN, there is no domain name.
tradspool is ok for now. I left noreader=false.
There are no infeeds and no outfeeds.
I had a look at ~news\etc\readers.conf :
To make inn respond to basic queries such as what
newsgroups there are, i changed the access to
access "local"{ users:"*" newsgroups:"*"}
and left the rest untouched.
no change to incoming.conf
I'm able to start inn as news:
./bin/rc.news start
The server does nor appear on the network with that service.
Then
./bin/rc.news stop
doesn't know of inn anymore :
no inn.pid file : did the server die ?
cannot send "shutdown" command (sendto failure) No such
file or directory.
Stopping innd:
Though 'ps' shows the task running, and I have to kill it by
its id.
Did I miss something vital ? (obviously yes)
