Yes I did. I posted an old iteration of the readers.conf. Sorry.

This is the current readers.conf:

auth inside {
         hosts: "localhost, 10.1.0.0/16"
         auth: "ckpasswd -s"
}

access inside {
         newsgroups: *,!junk,!control,!control.*
}

I wish to allow access inside the firewall only using the system
passwords. This is what is in the news.notice file when I restart the
server after changing to this configuration:

Apr  1 11:28:02 summer2 innd: controlchan! closed
Apr  1 11:28:02 summer2 innd: control:14 closed

When I try to use thunderbird to access the list of newsgroups, it
prompts me for a username and password. This is what is in news.notice
when I do so:

Apr  1 11:30:46 summer2 nnrpd[22750]: ? reverse lookup for 10.1.5.28

I don't know what is causing this. Any help is appreciated.
