Smart is not the word I would use. Yes, it does cache, even if you 
delete the group!. I'm using thunderbird (1.0.2). I've had problems in 
the past testing newsgroup access. I have to manually delete the cache 
before I try again.

I will try deleting the account, and the cache, and try it again. I'll 
report back what I find.

All in all, the servers are running very well now, except for an 
irritating "SERVER cant listen RCreader Address already in use" error, 
which seems to be caused by my running two nnrpd daemons at once (but it 
doesn't seem to cause any real problems).
