STABLE 20061210 and maybe CURRENT 20061210 may have a problem

This sentence didn't make any sense to me, but I'm making a guess that
you're getting this error report from cron and you don't know what's
causing it?

The only occurrance of basename in send-nntp is:
PROGNAME=`basename $0`
I don't see how, with a working basename, it could produce that message.
If there's supposed to be an error there, something is broken with your
basename binary or shell built-in.
