Moving Newsgroups with posts to new server

Hi,
I have been trying to move all articles from an old server to a newer
machine running INN. I have followed instructions as best as I could from
http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/faqs/inn.html#S6.4 , but on running:

sudo innxmit X.X.lan list
I get the error:

innxmit: cannot connect to X.X.lan: Can't assign requested address

Anyone got any ideas?
