Hi William,

> tdx-util: tradindexed: low water mark incorrect for tw.bbs.music.japan: 277375 != 277374
> tdx-util: tradindexed: count incorrect for tw.bbs.music.japan: 19 != 20

When such a thing occurs, what is the ouput of:

    grep "tw.bbs.music.japan" /var/lib/news/active
    tdx-util -i -n tw.bbs.music.japan

Can you check out whether article 277374 is still readable?

    telnet your.news.server 119
    GROUP tw.bbs.music.japan
    HDR Xref 277374
    HDR Xref 277375
    QUIT

What is the ouput of these commands?

And if you then do the same thing (HDR in telnet) after

    ctlinnd renumber tw.bbs.music.japan

what is the output?

Then you are using
    news.daily lowmark expireover flags="-N" expireoverflags="-N"
if I understand well.

Something like that?

expireover start samedi 17 janvier 2009, 04:15:37 (UTC+0100): ( -z/var/log/news/expire.rm -Z/var/log/news/expire.lowmark)
    Article lines processed   651413
    Articles dropped              68
    Overview index dropped        68
expireover end samedi 17 janvier 2009, 04:48:41 (UTC+0100)

There seems to be no report when groupbaseexpiry is false.
According to the man page of expireover:

-q

    expireover normally prints statistics at the end of the expiration process.
    -q suppresses this report. This flag is ignored if groupbaseexpiry is false.

It is always in quiet mode.
I do not know why; I assume expireover works differently in that mode.
