well it's not just the history which is dependant on LFS; from INSTALL:

    --enable-largefiles
        ...
        The history, tradindexed and buffindexed overview, CNFS, and timecaf
        databases written by an INN built with this option are incompatible
        with those written by an INN without this option.

BTW since you have emptied your history, why do you need to run
expireover anyway?
