[kea-dev] Configuration rollback in Kea

Hi,
Kea 1.1 was able to load its configuration from a file and possibly
reload it when received a signal. Kea 1.2 will get an additional source
of configuration files: set-config command. Also, some components will
get the ability to test new configuration. DHCP for sure, but we're
looking whether we can provide it for D2 (DHCP-DDNS component) and CA
(Control Agent, our latest addition) as well.

While discussing the capabilities and limitations, we realized that
there may be cases when something goes wrong with the new configuration
and the code needs to revert back to the old configuration. To achieve
this, some changes are required. I wrote a page describing the problem
and recommending solution: http://kea.isc.org/wiki/ConfigRollback

Your feedback on this is very welcome. Please keep in mind that full
configuration rollback is not realistic in 1.2. It's more of a longer
term goal that we can work towards.

Feel free to post your comments here to this list or as comments in
http://kea.isc.org/ticket/3097.

Tomek
