=> it can be any kind of Linux at the exception of Redhat or CentOS
which are too painful with their old and buggy kernels and in general
software.

=> modified kernel?

=> personally I use ssh (mainly because I have a real usage of it).
For bittorent we have the modified transmission (with PCP support)
and the standard one (using the IWF in the CPE).

=> you mean VGA from clients? When I talked about big screen I thought
a PC with a big screen (I have an iMac) with a lot of virtual machines
(I use VMware Workstation, BTW on the last version there is a remote
VM feature, unfortunately not yet available over IPv6).

=> two CPE is a good idea but it requires an extra switch (I have a
very small one, 5xGE).
