Maybe you can get them to add an A record for www.yourrookiedomain.com
pointing to your static IP.

You need a fixed host name as well as a static IP, and you need to register
that host name as a valid name server before any domains can be registered
or changed to point to it. With just a single IP it is a bit
chicken-and-egg.
You can use granitecanyon.com as your secondary name server. Visit them.
It's free.
In fact you can use them as your primary name server as well. I would
recommend this as then you don't need a name server at all, but are still a
master of your own domain. :)
