Problem with Bind and nslookup (Bind 8.1.2 and Linux 2.0.36)

% I receive the following error message when trying to set my default
% nameserver as IP 192.68.0.1:
% 	*** Can't find server name for address 192.68.0.1: Non-existent
% host/domain
% 
% My resolv.conf contains the following:
% 	nameserver 192.68.0.1
% 	nameserver 127.0.0.1
% 
% The routing table contains:
% 	Destination	Gateway	Genmask	Flags	Metric	Ref	Use	Iface
% 	192.68.0.0	0.0.0.0		255.255.255.0	U	0	0	0	eth0
% 	127.0.0.0	0.0.0.0		255.0.0.0	U	0	0	6	lo
% 
% The nameserver's IP address is 192.68.0.1 but I receive the abover error.
% 
% When nslookup uses the loopback IP as the nameserver, everything (seems to)
% work fine.
% 
% Any help would be appreciated and more information will be posted if
% needed.

Hum.  192.68.0.0/24 is delegated to:

and there does not appear to be a server at: 192.68.0.1

which would generate the results you are seeing.
my suggestions:

	1) point to an active nameserver.
	2) ensure you are not stomping on someone elses delegation.
