NXDOMAIN Error

I have a few questions.  On a Solaris 5.6 system (BIND 8.2.2-P5) how
do I dump the cache?  I did not see anything in the BIND 3ed book.
Also, what should I expect to find in the cache?  The nodename

     barge.mcs.anl.gov

was removed when the zone for which it was the primary name server was
removed.  So, there is no entry in dns for barge.mcs.anl.gov .
It is unclear to me exactly what I might find in the cache regarding
the nodename barge.  Thanks.
