problem with syslog and dns

The logging{} statement you supplied looks OK, so the problem is mots
likely in syslog. Did you kick syslogd after updating syslog.conf? Did
you test the syslog setup by using logger to send a local0.info
message to syslogd and verifying that the message ended up in
/var/log/syslog? Pay attention to white space in the "local0.info "
line. Some implementations insist the line only has TAB characters. (Or
was it blank characters?) Check your local documentation.
