Testing the bind config files before loading trying to start named

I am curious if theres any way to 'test' the syntax of the .conf and
zone files
to see if any zones are rejected or any other errors.

like the equivelant apache command 'apachectl configtest' or 'httpd -tT'

i guess easiest thing is to just monitor the zone loading log for an
"error" string.

any suggestions. basically i want to keep a tight eye on named and if it
goes down or can't smootly restart i would to whats wrong quickly.

Thankyou,
