$ORIGIN changes the default origin, i.e. what gets appended to unqualified
names:

$ORIGIN com.
example	A	192.168.0.1
; equals example.com.

$ORIGIN example.com.
example	A	192.168.0.1
; equals example.example.com.

$ORIGIN example.example.com.
example	A	192.168.0.1
; equals example.example.example.com.
