(Still) Having Problems with DNS with WinGate (95 Server/98 Client)

We have a small network here, with a Pentium II box running as our WinGate
server (we are running the "Home" version, for those of you familiar with the
program). The server is running Win95.

One of the client machines is a Viao 505 laptop, running Win98 (2nd edition).

The Vaio is called, cleverly enough, "Viao"; the server machine is called
"Stimey" (wow..appropriate, eh?)

Some of you may recall the problem about which I posted a few weeks ago. We
still have not been able to resolve it, but I have been able to zero in on it
a bit better. It is definitely some kind of DNS-related problem.

The symptom is that when I first try to run any client programs on the Vaio, I
can connect through the proxy (on Stimey), with no problem. But within a few
minutes the connection seems to lock up - if I restop and restart the
Wingate engine, it starts working again.

Now, I've figured out that the problem is that the DNS lookup is not
resolving the hostname to the IP address...when I open gatekeeper I can see
the client sending massive, ongoing DNS lookups, until it finally times out.

*Even when it is like this*, before I reset the engine, if I enter an IP
address I have no problem connecting to the net!

Example - I point Netscape to amazon.com. No problem connecting when we first
start up. A few minutes later, however, I can't get out to anywhere with
Netscape - it just locks up, and then times out (and gatekeeper shows netscape
sending ongoing DNS requests). If I try to reload amazon.com - same thing -
multiple DNS requests, going nowhere.

BUT, if I then point the browser to http://208.216.182.15, I get right to
amazon, no problem.

Once I stop, and restart, the Wingate engine, I can one again connect to
anywhere using the name (instead of IP address).

This is true for any client program (news, mail, etc..)

Finally (I think), a look at the WinGate debug log, when this happens, shows
the socket being closed at the point that the DNS lookups start to fail.

Does anybody have _any_ ideas as to what might be causing this problem? The
folks at WinGate support have tried to be helpful but..well..haven't. They
can't explain the problem, or figure out how to correct it.

Assuming that it is DNS lookup or something related, below are the network
neighborhood settings for both machines. ANY help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for any thoughts/ideas/suggestions.
