DNS & DHCP Problems

I'm hoping you can help me with a perplexing problem. Here's a little
background information. I have my own Linux Slackware v7
firewall/nameserver, running BIND v8.2.2-P5. For some reason, my nameserver
is unable to resolve my domain (or any other requests).

My first problem is, that in /etc/resolv.conf my ISP overwrites my setting
with it's own severs when I get my new IP address via DHCP.

The second problem is, if I point nslookup to server 127.0.0.1 (which should
query my local BIND right?) and search for www.microsoft.com or even
localhost I get the following error:
*** localhost can't find localhost: Server failed

I'm also receiving the following message in my /var/adm/messages file:
May 16 21:15:23 ns1 named[280]: No root nameservers for class IN

When I start named I get the following messages in /var/adm/messages:
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[279]: starting. named 8.2.2-P5 Thu Apr 13
21:57:46 CDT 2000 ^Iroot at home:/root/src/bin/named
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[279]: listening on [127.0.0.1].53 (lo)
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[279]: listening on [24.92.134.101].53 (eth0)
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[279]: Forwarding source address is [0.0.0.0].1025
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[280]: group = daemon
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[280]: user = daemon
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[280]: Ready to answer queries.
May 16 21:13:47 ns1 named[280]: sysquery: nlookup error on ?

I purchased the Oreily BIND book in an attempt to figure this out, but I
ahven't been able to. Please help me, I think I'm loosing my mind!!!

Thank You,
Ian Cazabat
