Indeed. I'm surprised that someone as intelligent as Igmar would accept a
spammer's (self-serving) interpretation of the law. Does he find those
miscreants particularly trustworthy?

In any case, http://www.cauce.org/legislation/index.shtml has a fairly good
rundown of pending U.S. federal legislation on the subject of spam, although
as Barry pointed out, it may be dated now that we're into a new session of
Congress.

Is this thread off-topic? Yes and no. If someone were hypothetically trying to
tweak BIND to enable the sending of spam (bypassing the attempts of their
ISP to block this), I think we would be justified in refusing to help them. So
I think it's reasonable to raise awareness of spam issues in this forum.
