So you're trying to run a dead version of BIND compiled with an out of
date compiler on a long-dead and unsupported OS. I see. Can you detect
a trend here? :-)

Give up. BIND4 is dead. It has been for years. Upgrade to BIND9. And
upgrade the OS. If you hate Solaris, you should be able to run some
flavour of BSD on your sparc. IIRC most of them even provide SunOS
compatibility if you have to support legacy applications.
