Does "@" in CNAME record not work?

I didn't even notice that one of those names was "ns1".  Certainly, if
it is the object of an NS record, it must be an A record rather than a
CNAME!

There is a problem mentioned on pp. 63-64 of 3E that has to do with TWO
ADDRESSES for ONE NAME - not TWO NAMES for ONE ADDRESS.  The discussion
ends on pp. 64-65 with a problem specific to the 'sendmail' program and
figuring out "the" canonical name.  This is not your problem.

With the DNS protocol as currently defined, you must use two A records.
I would comment both instances to remind people that if one changes,
they should consider changing the other.  Even if "people" is just you,
nobody corporeal has infinite memory capacity [you might forget].
