Excuse the replying to my own post....

Okay Mandrake 7.2 GCC 2.95.2, 2.2.17 builds and runs okay.
Copying named executable from Redhat box to Mandrake works
okay.
Copying DNS configuration from Mandrake box to Redhat same
error (This does a "-u", but hey that works fine on the
Mandrake box as it looks like configure in 9.2 assumes Linux
shouldn't have threads).
Redhat 6.1 box previously ran 9.1.x (various) without any
issues.

So it must be a configuration or library issue with the
Redhat 6.1 box - or did I miss something?
