problem with rndc star..syntax error near '<quoted string>'

hello..
i have upgraded to bind 9 and when ever i star the rndc..i.e 
"rndc start"..it give me the error..syntax error near '<quoted string>'..and aborts
and when i star the named with the path ..i.e.
"named -c /etc/rndc.conf" it starts running.
help needed
