Your cache will populate itself automatically, assuming you have your 
hints file configured correctly. A slave zone will populate 
automatically as long as you are able to regularly perform zone 
transfers from the master(s). A master file will only populate 
"automatically" if you have something external to BIND updating the 
database, either by adding/changing/deleting entries to the zone file 
from which the zone loads (or whatever backend named loads the zone 
from), or via Dynamic Update while BIND is running, or some combination
