BIND 9.2.3 configuration problem

hi,
This is regarding the 'directory' option in BIND 9.2.3 nameserver
config file.

I've downloaded the BIND 9.2.3 source from isc.org and
successfully ported it to my posix compliant operating system.

I'm now trying to run the DNS tests which came with the source
(in the "bind-9.2.3/bin/tests/system" directory)

These tests have been designed to verify the various features of bind
9.2.3.
They include several directories namely dnssec, ixfr and so on (each to
test a
specific feature like dnssec, IXFR etc).
These directories have their own named.conf files which would be
picked up by
the nameservers running on multiple virtual IPs on the same machine in
loop-back.

Thank you for reading till here, Now the problem part:

The 'options' statement in the named.conf of these tests doesn't have
the 'directory' substatement which tells where to pick the zone files
from.

Now, when i run my nameservers (i specified the -c option with proper
path to named.conf file) for testing, they respond to queries only
when
I add the 'directory' substatement with proper path of the location of
zone
files.

My qusetion is:
Is this a porting problem? if not then,
Do I have to add the 'directory' substatement in every named.conf that
appears in the test directories ("bind-9.2.3/bin/tests/system/")?

Any suggestions would be most welcome

regards,
Nishant
