'dig -t any ...' question

what's so special about ANY? Why any recursive servers don't do it's
best to satisfy the recursive client with the reply from the
authoritative server, that's why we call it recursive right? to do this
kind of work for the client, how can it take answer from the parent and
consider the task done?
I have problem with ladislav.name.ae, I put all nameservers unreachable
and I can not see them while using rd flag, because bind tries to verify
with them before it answers to the recursive client, why it doesn't do
the same thing for 'dig any ericsson.com', and if it doesn't do the same
thing, why I can not see the ns records with 'dig ANY ladislav.name.ae'
and rd flag set?
