... then you'll be doing things incorrectly, as you'll be mixing and 
matching different database replication mechanisms.  Set up the second
Microsoft DNS server to use Active Directory database replication.

That depends from how you are loosing it.  If you are loosing the
zone by losing the first Microsoft DNS server, then you simply need 
to add more of the same as what you already have: more delegation 
information.
