keeping delegation of a subpart of a delegated subdomain

Of course a delegator can be like an alligator and can quickly make a 
delegatee an amputee. :) In $TTL you have your subdomain back.

Sounds like a political problem, not a technical one. Don't delegate if 
you are worried about negative effects of delegation.
