Hi Michael,
here the outputs from gcc -v:

AIX 4.3:
Reading specs from
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix4.3.2.0/2.95.3/specs
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)

AIX 5.1 :
Reading specs from
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix4.3.2.0/2.95.3/specs
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)=20

AIX 5.2:
Reading specs from =
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix5.2.0.0/3.3.2/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.3.2/configure : (reconfigured)
../gcc-3.3.2/configure --disable-nls : (reconfigured) =
../gcc-3.3.2/configure
--disable-nls
Thread model: aix
gcc version 3.3.2

AIX 5.3:
Reading specs from =
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/powerpc-ibm-aix5.2.0.0/3.3.2/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.3.2/configure : (reconfigured)
../gcc-3.3.2/configure --disable-nls : (reconfigured) =
../gcc-3.3.2/configure
--disable-nls
Thread model: aix
gcc version 3.3.2

The same compiler works on AIX5.2, but not on 5.3.

Roger
